As weather systems in Europe bring warm weather across the continent, Australia is on alert for droughts as most of the country has very low chances to even reach average rainfall. This raises further drought concerns and highly increases the chance of widespread wildfires, as temperatures rise in the coming weeks. BBC meteorologist Phil Avery said: “Very unsettled and likely to remain that way for the next day or two. “Some very heavy rain on Monday right down across the Alpine region to Italy. “Driers conditions across Spain and Portugal and the east side of France. “On Tuesday, real concerns for the intensity of rain across the south of France and northern parts of Spain.  “We could see several hundred millimetres of rain falling in some locations before that system gradually moves away. “It could well trigger some flash flooding and landslides. “It is much quiet in the south east of Europe.” His comments come as a European weather blog predicts extremely warm days for late October with afternoon temperatures locally climbing into 26 to 29C range.  It stated there will be an extreme temperature anomaly across the northern Balkans towards Poland. The similar pattern continues through mid-week while the warmest airmass advects into far eastern Europe and western Russia. It seems likely the upper low over the W Mediterranean finally begins weakening towards the next weekend, resulting in decreased warm advection towards east-central Europe.   Trending  According to meteorologist Marko Korosec, temperatures across east-central Europe will intensify to 30C next week. He said: “The blocking ridge over east-central Europe should intensify and bring another week of extremely warm days for late October. “Afternoon temperatures locally climb into 26-29C range!” He also warned that an extreme amount of rainfall, up to 400mm, will sweep across the western Alps through the next three days.
