With the chimps you get it all the time, they are interested in whats happening on the other site of the glass. The gorillas are mostly ignoring what happens on the other site of the window ( Like us when we live near busy streets, airports, church bells we block it all out and learn to live with it) , but today gorilla Asante wiggled her tongue at me and showed me/pointed at her teeth. I know the keepers do interact with them on a daily basis for health reasons and I wonder if she was trying to tell me something. I wish I knew what it was, but I appreciate her coming over like that. It made my day. Only a short clip today, but a very interesting one. The surprising day didn't stop there. The day was just after most of the school holidays were over and it was very quite, giving me some peaceful moments to enjoy the gorillas. Watch on Monday who will be next on the window with me! :-) In a 7 minute video! The gorilla current family at Twycross consists of 6 members, which are Oumbi, Ozala, Biddy, Asante, Lope and Shufai Oumbi ( 30 June 1992) Sons : Okanda 17 Apr 2011 Hand raised now at München Hellabrunn Germany) Lope ( 3rd Jan 2013) and Shufai (24th Sep 2016) both born at Twycross Zoo in England and they are still at the Zoo. Matadi is at the Antwerp Zoo in Belgium with his mate Mayani and they recently had a baby girl called Thandie! ( Don't miss the footage on this channel) Ti died in 26 Feb 2007, the cause of it was a stroke. Oumbi got moved to Twycross Zoo in 2009 to mate with the females. Ozala was Oumbi chosen mate. Asante (6th Jun 1985) is Ozalas half sister. She hasn’t got any offspring. Biddy is Ozalas Mum as she was born in the wild during 1973, there is no record of siblings or parents.
