Want to make an Offer on a House? Here are some points to think about before you sign on the dotted line:
1) This will likely be the most expensive commitment that you have made. Ever. So be ready.
2) Make sure you have reserves and down payment money saved
3) Lower your debt as much as possible. Dave Ramsey suggest getting rid of all consumer debt including credit card loans and car loans.
4) Figure out what price-range to shop in. That doesn't mean maxing out your price just because you qualify for it. Again, Dave Ramsey suggests that you do not spend more than 25% of your monthly income on a house payment. He goes on to say that getting a 15 year mortgage is wise. Imagine not having a house payment 15 years from now! Wouldn't that be great? Think about all the things you could do with your life if you manage to pay off your house that soon.
Getting serious about home buying means getting clear about finances before you make an offer on a house. Once you have things in good order make an offer on a house that fits your budget. Get excited about this fantastic chapter in your life. Real estate is one of those things that can make your future bright.
