Afterwork Gaming: The Explanation

Afterwork Gaming: The Explanation Hey folks!
Welcome back to Afterwork Gaming!
I wanted to make this video to explain why I went missing for more than two years, to apologize, and to give you all some idea of what I want to do now that I’m back.
***
First and foremost: I’m sorry. I disappeared for two and a half years without any update or word of what I was doing. That was unprofessional, impolite, inconsiderate, and I apologize to you all.
I didn’t expect that it would be so long – for a while I just thought it’d be a pause. But a few days turned into a week, into a few weeks, into a month, two…and the prospect of coming back became less and less realistic.
Since I stepped away from this channel completely, I just recently saw all of the comments that you folks left – including those asking where I went, if I was ok, that sort of thing.
Now, I’m not egotistical enough to think that anyone lost a lot of sleep over an inactive channel, but if anyone was confused, upset, concerned, angry: I apologize.

So what happened?
Well, in short: life happened. I didn’t burn out or lose interest -- other things just demanded more of my time than I had to spare.
Things like my job and my career, for example: I got busier, I got promoted, and the kind of work I was doing changed to be more involved, time intensive, and demanding.
My family life also needed attention — I needed to take time to make sure everyone was alright, we had some health scares, some ups, some downs.
Now, none of that’s an excuse. I don’t intend it to be, I don’t think it should be, and I’m not willing to use my family AS an excuse. But I wanted to mention all that just to explain what I’ve been doing this whole time.

So, now that I’m back, it naturally raises the question of what I plan to do. Simply: I plan to start putting up videos and playing games again – the kind of games that I like to play, the kind of games that we’ve played together before on this channel:
Adventure games, story-rich games, games about space, games about strange new worlds and fantastic events, games that make us think and ask us to get creative about how we play them.
I’m also planning on coming back to some Starbound videos – the gameplay I’m using as the background for this video is actually part of an idea I had before I stopped uploading (a sort of let’s build/building basics series).
For those of you wondering whether I’ll come back to my old series — The Solus Project in particular — I have good news and bad news.
First the bad news: I had to switch computers in the last year and I can’t find my old save file anymore. BUT, now the good news: As penance for disappearing, I am going to try and recreate my save file – on my own time. That means I’ll play through the game up to the Twilight Monastery and then, hopefully, pick up from where we stopped. That may take a bit, but I’ll get there.
In terms of schedule, I think for now – at least while I’m getting back into the swing of things – I’ll try to upload every other day or once per day; depending on how productive I can be; and I’ll see how it goes from there.
And that’s…about it. I hope you’ll come join me for all this – the first two games on my list promise to be very interesting (and they’re both about space).
For those of you who don’t want to or wish to unsubscribe: I totally understand; no hard feelings.
As for those of you coming along? As always, welcome, and let’s game!
