Boris Johnson ordered to nominate female EU Commissioner by end of the month

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has received a firm warning to nominate a female EU commissioner by the end of the month, in a letter from Ursula von der Leyen, President-elect of the European Commission.

The former German minister insists Boris Johnson should put forward a woman as Britain’s European Commission.

European sources said the letter was a “firm” warning to the Government that it is expected to nominate a commissioner as part of the latest Brexit delay and agreement.
