Building a Wood Stove Hearth and Live Edge Walnut Mantle for our Off Grid Cabin Building a Slate Tile Wood Stove Hearth and live edge Walnut Mantle for our Off Grid Cabin in the Woods. We install cement backer board then use slate tile to build the hearth for our wood burning stove. Then we use a very special piece of live edge walnut to make a mantle for the wood stove.
