Free schools: We need more

In September 2019, NSN spoke to parents, staff, governors and students from free schools across the country to find out what accessing new provision in their local area has meant for them and their family.

Hear the real stories of people like Alison, whose son Liam was facing exclusion before being given a second chance by Everton Free School; Harry, a year 11 student at Lighthouse School in Leeds with autism and developmental verbal dyspraxia, who thanks to specialised support plans to study further towards a career in film; or Holly, the first recruit of LIPA Primary School before it had even opened, who is now part of the school’s leadership team as Deputy Head.
