I started learning ASL at age 11 when I babysat for a Deaf family.**I grew up with mild hearing loss and multiple surgeries to try and “fix” me.I went to University x 4 years for Deaf studies/ASL interpreting. I worked as a hospital-medical and Educational Interpreter until I was injected badly in a catastrophic car accident. Later in 2002, I was in a motor vehicle accident and suffered a TBI (was Dx with Chiari). My hearing declined and I received two hearing aids. I’ve been moderate /severe Hoh since that time. But about four or five years ago (2013-2014), my hearing declined even more, especially in my right ear. I found out in May 2019, that I had a tumor in my right ear called a “cholesteatoma”.
