Jordan discusses what aspects of the artworks are working well in terms of engagement and exploration with the subject matter, as well as the technical handling of the art materials. Next, suggestions for ways to improve the artworks, future art exercises and experiments to try out, and different ways of working with art materials are discussed in depth as a means of progress forward with future artworks.

“I started taking art seriously this year as a sophomore in high school, with a possible goal of RISD with a BFA. I have some serious catching up to do from what I've seen. I watch many Art Prof videos and have tried to not start a piece unless I have a meaning behind it.

The artwork I created is my first ambitious project, it was an independent piece that I painted over 3 weeks in about ~5 hours. My goal was to incorporate a transition from cool to warm colors, and my struggle with self-acceptance.

I would like to work on my poorly done background and I believe my composition is lacking. Any and all feedback is much appreciated.”

“Throughout my life I've loved to experiment. Whether it be trying new mediums or a new style, I'd be up for it. Recently I've been experimenting with pushing my colors while keeping my values.

I have been doing quite a few hand drawings from life, such as this one. While drawing this I looked at the shadows of my hand and tried to figure out what tone of color would work to keep the shadows. I was going for a more pastel look so I kept to a certain color scheme and chose my colors accordingly.

I'm trying to show that having interesting colors doesn't have to sacrifice the values and anything can be done once the mind is put to it. In my artwork I aim to achieve a well balanced piece that I will come to appreciate as an artist and to learn and grow from from what I've done.”
