You think your case is worth millions.
Ten million.
Fifteen million dollars.
You know your doctor was careless.
You know he caused your injuries.
You also know your injuries are permanent.
You heard that a guy down the street got $25 million for a fractured leg. Your cousin told you about a guy in her gym who got $5 million for a botched surgery.
You think your injuries are much worse.
Therefore, you conclude that the value of your case must be worth much more than these other people.
During the course of your lawsuit, the defense finally begins to negotiate. You're expecting them to offer you many millions of dollars. Your lawyer calls you to tell you about their offer.
It's pathetic.
It's ridiculous.
It's offensive.
It's pennies on the dollar.
How does that make you feel?
It makes you feel angry.
It makes you upset.
It makes you wonder how obnoxious they can be when making an offer. Clearly, they're not serious in trying to negotiate your case.
You start ranting and raving to your attorney.
Then, your attorney asks you a question which causes you to pause.
He asks "What makes you believe that your injuries are worth $ X MILLIONS of dollars?"
