My brushless kayak motor has reached testing phase. A short insert of my time on the water when the electronics went "pop". I investigate why some of the electronics failed on race day and show how effective a simple buck converter can be as a substitute for an MPPT controller. Testing also include run times on power from a small bank of supercapacitors. The motor is a Keda 56-63 195Kv. It has shown efficiencies of 92% during tests on a homemade dyno.

The exposed gears and basic gear casing can also be seen in the dyno video.
