As far as player deaths: I let my players choose when and where they want their characters to permanently die because I think players having some kind of autonomy over the loss of their characters is valuable. Though, there’s still a cost. Every tie a player dies under this system, they lose 25% of their total net wealth as their god requests a hefty price to bring them back. Barakas wasn’t penalized this time, but he has lost 25% of his net worth before.
If you're not particularly pleased with this system: don't worry. My players gods will have missions for each player in return for this kind of extended life. . .and these missions will not be trivial tasks.
In case you’re new, here’s the characters’ names/identities for reference: Xaeli is a gnome ranger, Nala is a dragonborn druid (blue), Barakas is a tiefling rogue, and Torrin is a dragonborn paladin!
