Health hazards with toxic household chemicals

Health hazards with toxic household chemicals Did you know that using non-natural, chemical filled regular cleaners can cause lung damage? They can create hazardous air quality in your own home, therefore affecting your health. Studies have shown that cleaning products’ irritating ingredients can cause damage by triggering immune system dysfunction, damaging the airways and setting off inflammation(1) .

So let’s look at all the non-natural, #toxic cleaners you have around, and switch them with natural cleansers. List of items to look for:

Cleaning supplies and disinfectants
Dish soap
Dishwasher soap
Laundry detergent
Fabric Softeners
Dryer Sheets
Air Fresheners
Artificially Scented candles
Synthetic fragrances
Shower curtains

Some of the toxic chemicals to look for, to name a few:

Acetaldehyde
Propyl Paraben
Oxybenzone
Formaldehyde
Dichloromethane
Benzyl Benzoate
Benzophenone
Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA, a carcinogen)
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC, plastic used in shower curtains)

You can simply use vinegar, baking soda and essential oils to clean in the most inexpensive, easy way.

Omit external and internal applied toxins. Switch to natural, essential oil filled, chemical-free products. Anything you apply on your skin, will penetrate into bloodstream and can accumulate in organs and can either be harmful or harmless. Breast cancer, for example, is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women, aside from skin cancer(2) .

Did you know that most regular deodorants women use have aluminum in them? when applying that on your skin, right on armpits, it penetrates and harms breast tissue. Aluminum is a heavy metal and is the active ingredient in underarm cosmetics. Aluminum is known to have genotoxic effects, causing DNA alterations and epigenetics effects, and is playing a role in affecting breast cells(3).

Let’s also look at Parabens briefly. Parabens are endocrine disruptors, which can negatively affect the body’s hormonal system, reproductive, neurological and immune system(4).

They also mimic estrogen that can increase the expression of genes that cause growth of breast tumors(5)

Let’s quickly also discuss Fluoride - found mostly in toothpastes, but also in our drinking water. When brushing teeth, the toothpaste will get absorbed in bloodstream and in regular use and high amounts, can pose serious health risks. It can affect growth and development, mitochondrial damage, and alter gene expression(6).
