Often our daily language is very casual, sometimes very careless!
Jesus, probably responding to how others spoke around him said to his disciples, if you swear, you must fulfil the promise. However, do not take an oath at all, “Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No’”. (Matthew 5:33-37)
Today, ”Yes” and “No” are likely to be our two most commonly used words. But, do we always mean what we say?
Honesty is a beautiful compliment; a lie usually comes back to haunt!
Lord Jesus, help me to resist the attractions of unwise words. May I remain honest to others and myself.
Lord, teach me to be generous.Teach me to serve you as you deserve; To give and not to count the cost;To fight and not to heed the wounds; To toil and not to seek for rest;To labour and not to ask for reward, save that of knowing that I am doing your holy will. Amen
