A missile fell inside heavily guarded Green Zone near the US Embassy in Iraq's Baghdad and another hit the nearby Jadriya neighbourhood on Saturday. Two more missiles were fired at the Balad air base, which houses US troops, but no one was killed, the Iraqi military said. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

A website run by a US government agency was breached and defaced by hackers claiming to be Iranian. The hack appeared to be a retaliation for the airstrike conducted by the US which killed Iranian Major-General Qassem Soleimani. A message on the website read "in the name of God" and depicted US President Donald Trump being punched by Revolutionary Guard.
