Tears, Tales of Woes as Police Parade Suspects in Lagos |Punch Some of the suspects recently paraded by the Lagos State Police Command have claimed that they don’t know why they were arrested.

One of the suspects, Aminat, said that police kicked in her door at night and took her to their station. She said, “I was asleep when they (police) kicked in my door and brought me here from Railway, Ijora.”

Another suspect, Lateef Mumeen, claimed that he had come to Ijora to look for one of his pupils, who had reportedly sought refuge in the neighbourhood after the pupil ran away.

He said that he slept at his friend’s house in Ijora, when in the middle of the night, policemen started banging on doors, arresting people while asking all men to come out.

“That’s how they started arresting everyone, without us having done anything wrong. That’s how we found ourselves here,” Mumeen said.

Favour Adivie also narrated how she ended up in police custody.
She said that she was returning from work, when she was arrested.

Adivie added that when she saw the other suspects and asked, they said they were arrested for alleged prostitution.

Speaking on the arrests, Lagos State Commissioner of Police said he has directed his OCs to release those who have not been found committing any crime. He reiterated that bail is free.
