Former CSIRO scientist David Packham OAM says he is delighted the Australian public understand that hazard reduction 'is the key' to reducing the risk of dangerous bushfires. A majority of Australians believe a failure to adequately conduct hazard reduction burns is the main cause of this season’s devastating bushfires, rather than inaction on climate change according to the most recent Newspoll.
Mr Packham told Sky News "the evidence is clear" that reducing fuel loads reduces the chance of dangerous fires.
