The communications authority has handed 5 companies licenses to carry out 5 G trial in Kenya for a period of one year to see its viability before its roll out. Telco giant Safaricom and 4 other companies have been granted the license to do the trial run in the first year before its launched. CA acting managing director Mercy Wanjau said that they are aware of the security threat that 5 G technology poses, but they are going to use the trial period to iron out issues that may arise.
