Scores of migrants and refugees continued to wait at the Turkish border with Greece near Edirne on Wednesday, amid allegations by Edirne Governor's Office that Greek security forces had killed one refugee and injured at least five others during clashes.

The allegations were subsequently denied by Greek government spokesperson Stelios Petsas, who accused Turkey of creating and dispersing "fake news."

A Turkish ambulance was seen driving near the area between the Greek-Turkish border, close to Edirne, as refugees and migrants waited by the roadside in the hope of onward transit to Europe.

Large numbers of migrants and refugees have been heading to Turkey's European borders since Thursday, after announcements by Turkish officials that they would no longer try to prevent migrants from attempting to reach Europe.
