Dear Evan Hansen is about teen suicide. In a convoluted plot of deception, Evan Hansen actually brought attention to Connor's suicide even though at the time of his death, no one paid much attention to it. The irony is that without Evan Hansen's misdeeds, Connor's death would've gone largely unnoticed.
Anna had to live most of her childhood separated from her sister, Elsa, who one day "shut her out and never knew why" despite being close to her. The two sisters reconciled following Anna's self-sacrifice and they promised not to shut each other out again.
In Frozen 2, Anna becomes separated from Elsa and finds herself in a cave with Olaf. Miles away in Ahohallan, Elsa has ventured too deeply and has "drowned." Olaf begins to dissipate into snowflakes and realizes that Elsa has gone too far and that her magic is what is keeping him alive. Anna is alone in a dark cave having lost her only remaining family member and her dear friend in one fell swoop.
Cold, afraid and overcome with grief, Anna pulls herself up to "to do the next right thing." Eventually she gets out of the cave and is faced with the horrible task of destroying the dam which she believes will destroy her home and the homes of Arendelle's inhabitants. A heavy burden that Anna takes on with as much courage and gusto as she can muster.
