Close to 800 motorcyclists participated in the ride which traversed the Brooklyn Bridge, parts of the BQE, the Ed Koch/59th Street Bridge, the FDR and West Side Highway, Columbus Circle past Central Park, and back to Seaport via the FDR.
DGR 2019 fundraising was officially a wrap Oct. 13 ... with NYC ending the event with its usual flair, topping the globe with a cool 200K raised for prostate cancer research and men's mental health resources. Last year's winner, London, England, came in at $168K, followed by Sydney, Australia ($138K), Los Angeles, CA ($119K), and Melbourne, Australia ($92.3K).
Leading the NYC charge was Vincent Nicolai, who finished third globally with $34,649, behind San Jose's Ron Krietemeyer ($51,521) and Hamilton, Ontario's Joseph Mancinelli ($46,056). In the team competition, the New York Classic Riders finished second to the global corporate Triumph team ($178K) with $63,976, followed by LiUNA Team of San Jose ($51,386), Triumph Brooklyn ($51,169) and Four Cure (Hamilton, Ont) with $40,506.
The US was again the top fundraising country with $1.85 million of the total $5.8 million raised, followed by England, Australia and Canada.
Thanks to all who participated, riders, local sponsors, the NYPD Highway Patrol, our volunteers and organizers, and the city as a whole for making NYC No. 1.
