We had introduced some wooden sorting toys to the little one at around 14 months. While she could not pace the blocks in their respective places, she could differentiate the shapes and colors fairly well. Little did we know that those skills would come in handy so soon. :)
One fine day, after we had gotten a whole lot of veggies, a lot of which (un)fortunately were all mixed up, we just happened to do this as an experiment. I explained to the little one how we need to keep the bitter gourds on one side and the lady fingers on the other. To our surprise, she separated them perfectly. That prompted us to do a higher level experiment - with ivy gourds and french beans - which perhaps needed more dexterity. But she ended up doing a fair job at this one too.
The nicest takeaway from this experiment, though, was the fact that we don't need to do these tasks again! :D
