So one of the things and one of the tips that I would give you is this: when you get set up to hit a putt, I want you to feel like you’ve got more pressure on your lead foot. So I’m a right-handed golfer, that’s going to be my left foot. So I use a phrase of maybe “60/40”; I want to feel like 60 percent of the pressure is on my lead foot, and most importantly, I want to keep it there the entire time.
A lot of golfers start 50/50 in terms of pressure on their feet, and during the stroke they actually change that to where they increase the pressure on the back foot and decrease the pressure on the front foot. And what happens is when you do that, the bottom of the swing moves, and the impact conditions completely change.
So if you want to hit quality putts, have some awareness of the pressure on your feet. You want 60 percent left, you want to keep it there the entire motion; and if you do that, you’re going to start making a few more putts.
